Prepare surfaces and joints for production welding by inspecting and cleaning materials as necessary.
Examine work pieces and completed welds for defects and verify conformance with required specifications.
Properly select, position, and secure welding torches, tips, electrodes, wire, and other welding materials based on the type and thickness of metal.
Preheat materials as required prior to welding or bending.
Position and secure parts using hoists, cranes, wire, banding equipment, and hand tools.

Layoff piece parts for fabrication and assembly
Ability to assemble piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner
Experience working in a physically demanding environment
Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry
Experience using small hand tools (electric drills, grinders, rivet guns), and shop equipment (drill press, press break, Shears etc.).

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Pass background check and urinalysis

• Strong Work Ethic

• Must be able to lift 50lbs

• Willing to work on/around ships
