ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE
The Work Authorization Coordinator is responsible for coordinating assignment of the Work Authorization Technicians to customer ships.  Reviewing Work Authorization Form (WAF) status progress report and direct resolution of conflicting report information.  Reply accurately to Work Auth / Work Control & WAF process and procedure questions.  Set up Work Auth/Work control/WAF office on new projects.  Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job.
 
POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)
  • A Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years directly related experience or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience 
    • or
  • 6 years directly related experience. US Navy experience in the Engineering Rates is preferred.  
Required Experience
  • Must have previous experience developing tag outs in US Navy ESOMS program.
  • Familiar with US Navy JFMM Work Auth / Work Control program requirements.
  • Intermediate level experience using MS Office Applications.
  • 3 years supervisory experience in electrical/mechanical report work.
  • 2 years customer service related experience.
  • Form US Navy enlisted personnel from the engineering fields are well-suited for this type of work.
  • Must be able to obtain a Passport
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Reports to the Quality Assurance Manager 
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain accurate and timely WAFs, WAF Log Index, and Work Auth Training Records.
  • Instruct Repair Activities about the US Navy Work Auth/Work Control and Tag-Out Programs, and how to properly write WAFs.  Accomplish same for Ship’s Force as directed.
  • Provide customer service interface between RA and customer ship.
  • Review new WAFs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review contract work specifications, US Navy drawings and Standard Items associated with submitted WAFs.
  • Track WAF authorization and WAF closing process
  • Develop tag outs and isolation in the ESOMS Program
  • Monitor the Work Control process; initiate WAF revision and Tag-Out revision as required.
  • Write WAF status and progress reports as required   by the Project Team.
  • Write change recommendations for annual SSRAC review of US Navy Standard Items.
  • Write change recommendations for TUM and JFMM.
  • Monitor WAF GLC man-hours to keep within allocated WAF man-hour budget.
  UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must meet requirements for obtaining a DBIDS badge. 
  • Occasional weekend work and/or extended hours.  
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • May require travel up to 30% to include international
