We have an exciting opportunity for a Sound Dampening Tile Insulator position in Portsmouth, Virginia!
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as a Marine Insulator
- Must have verifiable experience working with sound dampening tile
- Must have experience working with rubber, kalo, fiberglass, pads, and haul boards
- Must have OSHA 10 certification
- Must be eligible for DBIDS access
- Must have ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Job Duties entail but are not limited to:
- Install sound dampening tiles, acoustic insulation, and vibration-dampening materials on bulkheads, overheads, decks, machinery spaces, and other shipboard surfaces.
- Measure, cut, fit, and secure insulation materials using hand tools, power tools, adhesives, mechanical fasteners, and approved installation methods.
- Remove existing insulation and prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, grinding, or repairing as required prior to installation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work packages, technical drawings, and ship specifications to ensure proper installation.
- Apply insulation materials in accordance with military specifications, shipyard procedures, and customer requirements.
- Inspect completed installations to verify proper fit, alignment, adhesion, and workmanship.
- Seal joints, seams, and penetrations to ensure effective noise reduction and vibration control.
Schedule:
- 6am-2:30pm Monday-Friday
- Must be flexible to work OT and weekends as needed
