We have an exciting opportunity for a Shipyard Laborer in Portsmouth Virginia!
Job Duties entail but are not limited to:
- Position performs routine physical labor; moving materials, tools, and/or equipment; cleaning equipment, vehicles, machinery, and work areas
- May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner
- Perform routine physical work under close supervision
- Follow oral and written instruction from supervisor or more experienced worker
- Move materials and/or tools and equipment manually or with dolly, hand truck, cart
- Clean equipment, vehicles, machinery, work area using water and other cleaning agents, vacuums, hoses, brushes, cloths, or other cleaning equipment
- Operate variety of equipment including pneumatic tools, electric tools, and hand tools
- May be required to perform other duties as deemed necessary for job completion
- All of the above shall be performed in a safe and timely manner
- Often works on scaffolds and ladders for periods of time
- Shift work and overtime involved most of the time
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working as a General Laborer
- At least 1 year of shipyard experience
- Must have strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and able to multitask
- Understand Work Process
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing deadlines
- Understanding of Ship repair industry
- Ability to obtain DBIDS
Schedule:
- Monday-Saturday 6am-4:30pm
Pay:
- $16-$18/hour based on experience.
