We have a wonderful opportunity for three Shipfitters in Norfolk, VA with one of our Clients in the Ship Repair Industry.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of Fitting experience
- Must be DBIDs eligible
- Must pass tack test
- Knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and instruments associated with the Fitting trade
- Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.
- Enter and move through manholes to reach and work internally confined spaces
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with presses, floor shaping, forming plates, shaping from templates, marking symbols, doors, hatches and scuttles, rolls, presses and blacksmith shop
- Laying out blueprints, checking and fitting materials, tack welding of small assemblies, aluminum and steel foundations and outfitting items
- Installation of structural outfit items, doors, ladders, foundations
- Correct use of heating torches in plate heat straightening and shrinkage
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Shop and field fabrication
- Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates
- Install simple systems without templates and blueprints
- Read and understand the Chemist and Competent Persons reports and determine if job sites, particularly those involving combustible material, are safe for personnel and hot work
HOURS:
- 1st and 2nd Shift Available. 1st starts at 6AM and 2nd starts at 3PM
- Could either work 8, 10 or 12 hours per shift depending on demand
PAY:
- Local pay is up to $30/hour
- Non local is up to $27.31/hour + Per Diem
