Job Description

Position Summary
The Project Manager oversees ship repair projects from planning through final delivery, ensuring availability is complete and the vessel is returned to the customer on time. This role requires in-depth knowledge of combatant and non-combatant vessels, leadership of technical teams, and direct interaction with Navy and customer representatives. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact, balancing cost, schedule, and quality while protecting the company’s fiscal and professional reputation.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned projects from planning to completion, managing budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with planning, estimating, production, quality, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
  • Develop proposals, estimates, task lists, and resource plans.
  • Identify scope changes, risks, and conflicts; implement solutions and negotiate adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct daily briefings and end-of-day reviews; ensure work packages are assigned and executed per specifications.
  • Maintain compliance with WAF, tag-out, safety, and HAZMAT requirements.
  • Ensure employees and subcontractors have tools, materials, and training required for tasks.
  • Build and facilitate cross-functional project team meetings.
  • Supervise and mentor assigned Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and technical staff.
Qualifications
Education: 
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Science, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent (AA/AS + 2 years, or 6 years direct experience).
Experience: 
  • Minimum 6 years shipboard repair experience (shipyard or Navy). At least 6 years managing technical personnel in complex shipboard availabilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge of Navy ship repair requirements, contracts, technical procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, U.S. Passport, and be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% (domestic/international) and work nights/weekends when required.
Physical/Work Requirements
  • Ability to access vessels, drydocks, confined spaces, ladders, and scaffolding.
  • Work in environments that may be dirty, dusty, noisy, hot, or cold.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
  • Split time between office and job site (approx. 50/50).
 
Schedule: 
  • Monday–Friday, 7:00am–4:00pm (with overtime as needed)
Pay: 
  • $35/hour
