Electrician (1st Class)
Position Summary
The Electrician is responsible for performing electrical work safely, efficiently, and in accordance with specifications. This role requires professionalism, quality workmanship, and reliable on-site attendance.
Key Responsibilities
- Confirm that a valid Work Authorization Form (WAF) is posted at the job site and applies to the specific work being performed; no work begins without it.
- Ensure all job-specific safety measures are followed (e.g., special staging, face shields for grinding, protective clothing for hot work, breathing apparatus with correct cartridges).
- Perform only tasks for which proper training or certification has been obtained (e.g., JLG, forklift, welding, brazing, specialized electrical/mechanical repairs).
- Oversee assigned personnel to maintain safe, productive operations with consistent quality control.
- Verify that hot work areas have completed the required 30-minute cool-down period.
- Leave each job site in a safe, orderly, and clean condition upon completion of work.
Requirements
- Must have 5 yrs. Experience at the 1st class level.
- Be able to use basic tools and test equipment.
- Must be able to follow directions from the lead Mechanic.
- Must be able to accomplish an electrical motor test.
- Identify electrical components inside a controller and the different types of cable used to be an Electrician.
- Distinguish color code phasing (orange, brown, yellow, black, white and red).
- Travel: Up to 30% (including international)
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying, climbing, crawling, crouching, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking.
- Must be able to access vessels and work in varying environments.
- Adequate vision, hearing, and communication skills required.
Schedule:
- 7am-4pm Monday-Friday
- There may be occasional weekend work / or extended hours
