Job Description

The EHS  Technician is responsible for leading the environmental  requirements needed at our clients  facility and complying with all Federal,  State, and Local regulations  and statutes. The primary duties are to review and recommend improvements to existing safety, health, and environmental programs for compliance assurance, generate required reports as requested  by regulatory agencies, and provide guidance and direction to management for ensuring  compliance.
 
Major Responsibility (Functions/Duties):
  • Conducts phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Performs environmental quality work in field or office settings.
  • Performs field inspections, records, and reports data to determine pollution level in accordance with established procedures.
  • Obtains, maintains, modifies,  and reviews compliance with environmental permits and licenses.
  • Conducts sampling of surface water, wastewater, and air.
  • Coordinates communication of EHS  regulatory activity for FMSNA Senior Leadership.
  • Manages and completes the timely submission of documentation, reports, permit applications, inventories, and surveys to appropriate government and regulatory agencies.
  • Observes and evaluates workplace environments, equipment,  or practices to ensure compliance with company safety  standards as  well as all local,  state, and federal guidelines.
  • Works with emergency response team to address environmental incidents such as chemical leaks and spills.
  • Identifies and investigates environmental accidents or violations and proposes corrective  actions.
  • Maintains inventory control and oversees shipping and transportation  arrangements of hazardous material disposal.
  • Educates workers on environmental  health and safety procedures.
  • Conducts daily deckplate safety walk with customer and work with crafts to correct deficiencies.
  • Ensures that company, vendors, and employees are in compliance with the Global Harmonization
  • System  (GHS).
  • Inspects specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment,  safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
  • Conducts job hazard analyses.
  • Supports all shifts and works additional hours as required
  • Other duties may be assigned as directed. 
Requirements
  • Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong Organizational Skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel,  Word, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Complex Problem-Solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) & Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)   Regulations, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items, State and Local regulations.
  • Must be certified in First Aid/CPR  or can obtain certification.
  • Ability to review and implement process improvements.
  • Must have or able to obtain a Maritime OSHA 10.
Education and Experience:
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • 1910 and 1915, maritime industry, hazard communications, accident investigation, and safety training met
  • Strong knowledge of environmental  regulations  Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), and Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
  • Three (3) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of six (6) years job-related experience pertaining to safety, environmental, and maritime industry.
  • A minimum of a two (2) year degree in an environmentally related field is strongly preferred.
  • 24 Hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
  • Knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 & OSHA 45001 is preferred.
  • Experience in field inspection preferred.
  • Must have competent person certification
Schedule: 
  • 7am-3:45pm Monday-Friday
Pay:  
  • $28-$33/hour
