Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Spray Painter to join our fabrication team in Suffolk, VA. The Spray Painter will be responsible for applying paint and coatings to metal components and fabricated products using spray equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fabrication or industrial environment and will take pride in delivering a high-quality finish on every project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, or priming as needed
- Mix and apply paint or other coatings using airless and conventional spray equipment
- Ensure proper thickness and coverage of coatings in accordance with job specifications
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of spray equipment and painting booth
- Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times
- Inspect finished products for quality, touch up imperfections, and meet customer or production standards
- Assist with loading/unloading materials and moving parts throughout the shop as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and quality control personnel
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1–3 years of industrial or automotive spray-painting experience
- Knowledge of paint types, mixing ratios, and surface preparation techniques
- Ability to operate spray guns, pressure pots, and other related equipment
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and hazardous materials handling
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Physical ability to stand, lift, bend, and work in varying conditions (including wearing a respirator)
Work Environment:
- Indoor fabrication shop environment with exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and noise
- Must be able to wear respirator and other PPE as required
- May require occasional overtime depending on production needs
Hours:
- Monday through Friday, 2nd shift
