Summary
This position provides housekeeping services for university buildings to ensure clean, safe, and well-maintained facilities for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, floor care and protection, carpet maintenance, and other custodial practices aligned with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust as needed.
- Carry out specific floor maintenance procedures including stripping, waxing, buffing, and sealing.
- Conduct carpet care such as spot cleaning, shampooing, and vacuuming.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners.
- Replenish supplies such as paper products and soap in restrooms.
- Operate housekeeping equipment safely and according to instructions.
- Follow safety guidelines, including proper use of cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain custodial closets, carts, and equipment in clean and organized condition.
- Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned.
- Report maintenance needs or safety hazards promptly to supervisor.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of basic housekeeping techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read and write in English and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (5+ hours).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. multiple times daily.
- Ability to learn, retain, and apply training procedures.
- Reliability and willingness to work as part of a custodial team.
Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor university facilities.
- Frequent bending, lifting, and standing.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including during emergency closings as required.
Schedule:
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts are available
Pay:
- 1st and 2nd shift: $14.00/hour
- 3rd Shift: $14.63/hour
