We have an exciting opportunity for two Insulators in Norfolk,VA with one of our Clients in the Ship Repair Industry.
Qualifications:
- Must have 2-4 years of insulating experience in the marine environment
- Must be able to obtain DBIDS
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proficiency in use of all types of hand and power tools and machines.
- Install insulation in ceilings, walls and other compartments.
- May insulate a variety of insulation materials on hulls, steam turbines, ventilation ducts, valves, boilers, piping systems, etc… to prevent loss of heat or cold and condensation
- Responsible for the installation and/or removal if insulation of any component on board ship.
- May use kaylo, insulating cement, fiberglass pipe covering, polyimide, elastomeric foam, and other insulating materials
- Must be able to make a pad
- Cut an install kaylo
- Cut mitres for kaylo
- Will load and unload materials in bulk
- Fabricate machinery pads
- Fabricate and install rubber pipe covering
- Lay out BLHD and OVHD for insulation pins
- Measure and cut insulation
- Board ships via stairs, ladders, and gangways with tool bags and needed equipment
- Control cost in assigned area of responsibility
- Other duties may be assigned as workload dictates
- Must have regular and reliable attendance

Hours:
- 1st Shift – Starts at 6AM – may work 8,10 or 12 hour shifts
- 2nd Shift – Starts at 3PM – may work 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts
Pay:
- Local (Preferred): Up to $27.31/Hour
- Non-Local: Up to $25 + Per Diem
