Must be DBIDS EligibleESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Proficiency in use of all types of hand and power tools and machines.
Install insulation in ceilings, walls and other compartments.
May insulate a variety of insulation materials on hulls, steam turbines, ventilation ducts, valves, boilers, piping systems, etc… to prevent loss of heat or cold and condensation
Responsible for the installation and/or removal if insulation of any component on board ship.
May use kaylo, insulating cement, fiberglass pipe covering, polyimide, elastomeric foam, and other insulating materials
Cut an install kaylo
Cut mitres for kaylo
Will load and unload materials in bulk
Fabricate machinery pads
Fabricate and install rubber pipe covering
Lay out BLHD and OVHD for insulation pins
Measure and cut insulation
Board ships via stairs, ladders, and gangways with tool bags and needed equipment
Control cost in assigned area of responsibility
Other duties may be assigned as workload dictates
Must have regular and reliable attendance
Pay: starting at $25.00 an hour Per diem available to those eligible
