We have an exciting opportunity for one Fabrication Estimator in Norfolk, VA with one of our Clients in the Ship Repair Industry.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 10 years of experience in management and/or steel fabrication.
- Must have hands on experience in contract administration.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of Contract Administration and Contract Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or other related fabrication experience preferred.
- Project management, painting, and machine shop experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of NAVSEA, NAVFAC and SSPC and requirements is preferred.
- Must posses a thorough understanding of the manufacturing process, materials, and costing methods for heavy steel fabrication.
- Must have hands on experience with FAR, DFAR, and various types of contracts (FFP & T&M).
- Must have strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Must have a working knowledge of AWS, AISC, ABS, and ASME code/certification requirements.
- Must have knowledge of respective market area, client opportunities, and competitors.
- Must possess market analysis experience in order to determine present and future material availability.
- Must have strong PC skills to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and AutoCAD.
- Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Climb, Reach, Push and Pull, Stoop, Crawl, Kneel, Balance, Lift and Carry various objects and equipment
- Must be able to climb up and down stairs and spend time moving throughout the facility and onboard marine vessels.
Essential Duties & Functions:
- Estimate by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, scope of work and other documentation in order to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for fabrication and machining projects.
- Review available plans and specifications to ensure estimate effort is in compliance with all specifications and requirements.
- Ensure cost estimates are accurate prior to the submission to management for review and pricing.
- Analyzes request for proposals and contract terms and advise of potential business risk (warranties, insurance, and indemnification) and enforce provisions of contract.
- Prepare & review insurance/bond request.
- Recommend pricing from strategy and contract terms to enable contract negotiations.
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in cost estimating for repair, fabrication and assembly work.
- Assist in marketing efforts and follow up of potential customers for work quoted but not contracted.
- Analyze cost versus profit to determine the best business strategy to maximize company’s dollar.
HOURS:
- First shift starts at 6AM. May work 8,10 or 12 hours shifts.
PAY:
- Up to $35/hour depending on experience
