We have an exciting opportunity for two Barge Service Mechanics with one of our Shipbuilding Clients in Norfolk, Virginia!
Job Duties entail but are not limited to:
- Must be knowledgeable in the operation and repair of all barge systems including mechanical, plumbing, communication, electrical, CHT, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems
- Perform routine and complex maintenance and repair tasks on mechanical systems and other shipboard equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Install, align, and secure mechanical systems and components in accordance with technical specifications and blueprints.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues promptly, using diagnostic tools and technical expertise to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. - Execute upgrades and modifications to mechanical systems to enhance performance, efficiency, and safety.
Perform precision fitting and calibration of mechanical components to meet strict tolerances and specifications. - Accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and installations, including materials used, time spent, and any modifications made to systems.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 3 years of experience as a barge mechanic; or have graduated from a registered apprenticeship program relevant to the trade.
- Must be able to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Must be able to obtain DBIDS
- Will be required to work 8 hour shifts Monday-Friday and 4 hour shifts Saturday-Sunday
- Must be able to work all holidays and be on call 24/7
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday 630AM – 430PM
- Saturday-Sunday 630AM – 1200PM
Pay:
- Per Diem Options Available
- Local is up to $32/hour
- Non-local is up to $28/hour
