We have an exciting opportunity for Abrasive Blasters in Newport News, VA with one of our Clients in the Shipbuilding Industry.
Abrasive Blasters are responsible for preparing metal surfaces for coating and painting through abrasive blasting techniques in a shipyard environment. This role involves removing rust, scale, old paint, and other contaminants from ships, tanks, and structural components while adhering to strict safety and environmental regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Blasters must have three (3) or more years of experience in using high pressure blast equipment.
- Previous experience as an abrasive blaster in a shipyard, industrial, or marine environment preferred
- Experience must include working in a physically demanding environment, confined spaces, working at heights, and in the use of a blaster air-fed helmet and/or soft hood air-fed respirator and a negative-pressure half-face respirator.
- Set up, operate, and maintain blasting equipment including hoses, nozzles, compressors, and containment systems
- Blasters must be of height and weight that will allow entrance and movement through man way and tank openings.
- All blasters must be United States Citizens.
HOURS:
PAY:
- $22.00 – $27.31/hour depending on experience
- Per Diem is offered for qualifying non-local employees
