We have an exciting new opportunity for an Accountant for a client in Norfolk Virginia!
Qualifications:
- Must have Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or regulated environments
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage
- Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- High attention to detail and strong analytical abilities
- Strong judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to clearly communicate financial matters to non-finance leaders
Job Duties entail but are not limited to:
- Financial Reporting & General Ledger:
- Own the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, timely, and defensible.
- Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with discipline and accountability.
Financial Analysis & Business Insight:
- Analyze costs, revenues, margins, commitments, and obligations to support forecasting, planning, and strategic decisions.
- Translate operational activity into financial outcomes and explain variances in clear, practical terms.
- Proactively identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities and communicate findings to leadership.
Accounting Operations & Compliance:
- Lead or review accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cash discipline.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
- Prepare and support tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external audits, providing clear documentation and explanations.
- Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and controls.
Schedule:
Pay:
