Integrity Staffing has an exciting opportunity for a 1st Class GMAW Welder at a shipyard in Lockport, Louisiana! (NIGHT SHIFT) A GMAW welder, also known as a MIG (metal inert gas) welder, is a skilled trade worker who uses an electric arc and inert gas to create functional metal projects that meet client specifications. Their responsibilities include:
Preparing materials
Reading blueprints, taking measurements, and cutting materials to plan layout and procedures
Assembling and tacking
Preparing, assembling, and tacking weld parts and surfaces to be welded
Welding
Operating welding units and equipment to weld components in various positions using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
Inspecting
Monitoring the welding process to ensure parts are not damaged and inspecting the strength of welds in the post-production process
Cleaning
Using grinders to smooth and clean metal before and after welding, and cleaning and maintaining equipment and tools
Maintaining
Identifying hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with codes, laws, and health and safety
