We have an exciting opportunity for a Forklift Mechanic in Newport News!
Job Duties entail but are not limited to:
- Forklift engine overhaul
- Accurately and Effectively Perform Preventative Maintenance
- Inspection
- Oil/Hose/Fuel checks and changes
- Interpret Diagnostic test results
- Hydraulic system knowledge
- Repair of Diesel Equipment
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs on equipment including yard trucks, forklifts, trailers, clamps, conveyors, excavators, front-end loaders, bulldozers, skid steers, and similar equipment.
- Repairs typically include; alternator swaps, replacing starters, changing batteries, brake repair, electrical components, pneumatic and hydraulic repairs, changing belts/fans/hoses and similar.
- Troubleshooting
- Inspecting equipment and electrical components to determine the type of repair needed.
- Following electrical schematics to determine if electrical repair or mechanical repair is needed.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience working as a Diesel Maintenance Technician or similar with heavy equipment.
- Some experience can be substituted for educational training or certifications.
- Troubleshooting experience with industrial equipment.
- Background in preventative maintenance including oil/lube/brakes/hoses/hydraulics.
- Possess a basic tool set.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card (for more information visit the TSA website on TWIC requirements).
- Valid US driver's license.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, day shift with nights and weekends as needed. 6am-4pm
Pay: $26.50-36.90/hour based on experience.
